Title: How to Upload Stock Photos to Adobe Stock: Step by Step
Description: Upload a prepared photo, add accurate metadata, choose a category, attach releases, declare generative AI use, and submit it to Adobe Stock for review.
Keywords: how to upload stock photos to Adobe Stock, upload photos to Adobe Stock, how to submit photos to Adobe Stock, Adobe Stock photo upload

## Direct Answer
Sign in to the Adobe Stock Contributor Portal, select Upload, then choose Browse or drag in your prepared photo. When the file appears in New, it has been uploaded but not submitted. Check the category, title, keywords, releases, and any required generative AI declarations, then select Submit to send it to moderation.

The transfer is only the first step. Once the file appears in New, the title, keywords, category, releases, and AI declarations still need to match the finished image and how it was made.

### Prepare a file that meets Adobe's submission requirements

Start with the file, not the Upload button. Open the photo at 100% and check focus, noise, compression, edges, reflections, and any text or marks that should not be there. A clean thumbnail can hide a problem that is obvious at full size.

Adobe currently requires photos to be JPEGs in the sRGB color space, between 4 and 100 megapixels, no larger than 45MB, and free of watermarks, timestamps, or branding. Enlarging a weak file to reach the minimum does not restore missing detail.

Once the file itself is ready, open the upload page. The next action only moves the file into Uploaded Files; it does not submit it for review.

Before uploading, compare the file with Adobe's current [photo submission requirements](https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/submit-your-content/submit-photos/technical-legal-requirements-photo-submission.html).

### Uploading only moves the photo into Uploaded Files

Sign in to the Adobe Stock Contributor Portal and select Upload in the top panel. Choose Browse to locate the photo, or drag the file into the browser window. When the transfer finishes, wait for Adobe to generate a preview in New.

That preview is not a review status. Adobe describes Uploaded Files as content that has reached the Contributor Portal but has not yet been submitted for moderation. If you uploaded the wrong export or notice a visible defect, remove it here and upload the corrected file.

At this point, you know only that the file arrived. Select it in New and complete the information that turns it into a submission.

Adobe's [photo submission guide](https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/submit-your-content/submit-photos/submit-photos.html)lists Upload, Browse, New, and Submit as separate steps.

Its [Uploaded Files guidance](https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/manage-your-portfolio/delete-content-uploaded-files-area.html)also states that these files have not yet been submitted for moderation.

### Before submission, make the metadata match the finished image

Select the photo in New and judge the finished image before accepting Adobe's suggestions. Write a short, natural title that names the main subject, action, and setting. Put the most important and relevant subjects and details first in the keyword order. Remove anything you planned to include but that does not appear in the final file.

One real Adobe submission shows what this looks like. The finished image shows a clear blue spiral vortex; the submitted title identifies an unseen impeller as its source. The actual title was “Dynamic spiral vortex in clear blue water, created by an unseen impeller.” Its first 10 keywords were impeller, eddy, centrifuge, hydraulics, pump, current, motion, blue, swirl, and aquatic.

The leading keywords name the impeller and related fluid-motion concepts; color and appearance terms come later. Adobe later accepted the image. That makes this a real example of submitted metadata, not evidence that any single keyword caused acceptance.

Adobe says the first 10 keyword positions have the greatest influence on search ranking. Put the strongest terms first instead of filling every available slot with synonyms. Use one language for the title and keywords, and match the language selected for your Contributor account.

For a complete ordering method, use the [Adobe Stock first-10-keyword guide](https://www.stockphotoscout.com/en/guides/contributor-keyword-workflow).

Adobe's current [titles and keywords guidance](https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/content-policies-guidelines/metadata/tips-effective-titles-keywords.html)covers accuracy, relevance, and order.

### Choose the category, attach releases, and declare generative AI use

The category should match the photo's main subject. Adobe may suggest one automatically, but open the menu and check it before submission. Choose the closest category, not the one that seems most popular.

Attach a model release when the photo shows an identifiable person. Recognizable private property, artwork, or protected designs may require a property release. Confirm the requirement, then attach the correct document to the correct photo.

Generative AI content also needs an accurate creation declaration. Enable Created using generative AI tools for all content created with generative AI. If a depicted person or property is fully AI-generated rather than based on a real subject, also select People and Property are fictional. Generative AI content that depicts, is based on, or is intended to portray an identifiable real person requires a model release; content depicting recognizable real property requires a property release.

Base the content type on the finished image. Adobe directs contributors to submit photorealistic AI images that could have been captured with a camera as Photos, and artistic or fantasy AI images as Illustrations.

Use Adobe's [category guide](https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/content-policies-guidelines/metadata/choose-right-category-content.html)to review the suggested choice.

For AI images, follow the current [generative AI submission steps](https://helpx.adobe.com/stock/contributor/submit-your-content/submit-generative-ai-content/submit-generative-ai-content.html)for declarations and releases.

### Submit sends the photo to moderation; approval makes it available for licensing

When the image, title, keywords, category, releases, and AI declarations are complete, select Submit. That action sends the photo into Adobe's moderation queue. Review times vary with queue volume and content type, and the result appears in the Contributor Portal.

An approved photo enters the Adobe Stock collection and becomes available for licensing. A refused submission shows a refusal reason in the Contributor Portal. Use that reason to decide what to change before submitting another version.

Before pressing Submit, do one final check: correct file, clear title, relevant leading keywords, suitable category, required releases, and accurate AI declarations. Make sure every field matches the photo you are submitting.

Keep the sequence straight: file, title and keywords, releases and AI declarations, then Submit. Uploaded describes delivery; submitted means Adobe has received the work for moderation.

If Adobe refuses the image later, start from the label shown in Contributor Portal and use the [Adobe Stock rejection guide](https://www.stockphotoscout.com/en/guides/adobe-stock-rejection-reasons-ai-images)to choose the next action.
